Organic Modernity Kitchen and Living Area Remodel

Vashon Island, WA

This 80s-era kitchen had good bones and a stunning west-facing view of Puget Sound — but the layout was working against itself. An awkward peninsula, misplaced range, and dated oak cabinetry made the space feel cramped and disconnected from its surroundings.

The redesign centered on the view. Neutral finishes and materials throughout let the scenery take center stage, while a full-height ceramic tile backsplash with floating shelving gave the homeowner's beautiful handmade pottery collection the display it deserved. We removed the awkward wall, repositioned the appliances for a proper work triangle, and replaced the peninsula with a clean island featuring a microwave drawer.

The result is a kitchen that finally lives up to its setting.
